i am a first time cast bullet user. :hunt:since its hard for me to cast (i have a stroke, it will take 2 or 3 years to start casting) so for now i'll have to find beartooth or leadheads. i have a piece of lead that i put into my 30-40 krag's muzzle and tappad it down to the bolt. it measured .3085". i was wondering which bullets to use. these will be used at 1700-2000fps(gas checked), for deer and black bear, and out to 100 yards. here are some of my cast bullets i have found....  http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/index.htm>http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/index.htmhttp://www.mattsbullets.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=79>http://www.mattsbullets.com/index.ph...index&cPath=79http://www.airtacticsaz.com/legacy-lbt-premium-hunting-bullets.html>http://www.airtacticsaz.com/legacy-l...g-bullets.htmlhttps://secure25.securewebsession.com/proshootpro.com/order.htm>https://secure25.securewebsession.co....com/order.htm thanks for your help

I would suggest that you use either the 180gr.flat nose Lyman 31141 sized to .310 or the 210 gr. LBT sized .309 try that size first and if insufficiently accurate try the .311 sized bullets.  I don't know what alloy they are cast from so expansion is problematic.  lyman #2 alloy would be best as the extra tin in it allows for great ductility while the antimony lets it be pushed fairly fast.

When loading you might consider IMR 3031 or even 4350 which has been reportred to give good results in several cases.

I would hold for the lungs when hunting even if the bullet doesn't expand significantly it should prove quickly fatal.

The 311284 at about 210 gr would be ideal a well.

Of those the OP indicated, the heavy Beartooth bullet, which is likely 311284, should feed without problem. I don't imagine Matt's flatnose bullets would feed well. The LBT may or may not feed.  The Leadhead 200gr bullets will feed also.
