We've now got 20 years, 1998-2017, of CBA national match group records.

The graphs show no trends, groups don't seem to be getting smaller.

Also, the <.5" hurdle seems to be intact, no trend there that I can see.

I can't put the EXCEL files here. Anyone who wants them has but to ask; [email protected],.

If there's anyone who can put EXCEL graphs up here, please do.

Thanks;

joe b.

looking at the yrs/groups/classes  chart ... you might think that when hunter came in, the production groups went up .... did the rifles know about that ... or did the production whizzes go to hunter ?? ...  and i assume years with all classes shooting worse were windy maybe rainy ... or sun shining in eyes ?? ...

Yearly is weather/wind/shooter related. I.e. 2002.

jacketed bullets seem more accurate than cast. See the <.5" graph above, and

The number of 5 shot aggregates at 100 yards less than half inch seems to be 6, not 5, for 2017.

It seems that there are 19 years of data missing for the jacketed bullet groups. To satisfy my curiosity, I looked back as far as 2009. By looking at several years and all the shooters in LV 100 class, it looks like IBS group shooters have trouble getting less than 0.200". I would compare that the CBA hurdle of 0.500." I have included a percentage of those getting under 0.200 or 0.500. Maybe both shooting organizations need to dig deeper! As always, we can trim data to suit our bias.IBS vs CBA

paul p ::   thank you very much .   i feel better now.

remember ::   treading water is still better than drowning !! ...

looks like at the top end we aren't getting much better ..... but i do think that the CBA efforts can get newbies shooting 2 to 4 inch groups more often than 70 years ago ...  and not lead up their barrels while attaining that plinking and hunting success .

how do we track data for the 174th best cast shooters in the nation ?? .  maybe they were the 2011 th worst cast shooters and joined the CBA and are now the 174 th best ....

*******************

at the very top level of caster accuracy maybe  it is necessary for us here self-ackowledged experts to scream. cuss, and insult all the other experts ... in order to reduce groups by 0.020 inch ....  heck, enthusiasm is historically a good thing  .....  but at least we can get absolvement  through retreating into our more mellow selves  and helping the other 99 per cent of our cast shooting fraternity .   i like to believe we have done just that.
