Hodgieno3, Welcome aboard!
I have a Cadet, which when I got it was rechambered to accept .32-20 brass. It shot OK with the RCBS heeled bullet and a compressed caseful of IMR4198, but I wanted a light rifle for .38 Special and had mine rebarreled, and have been very happy with it in that configuration.
Our 4198 powder we buy here is one of your Mulwex ADI powders, but I forget which one it is. But if you have any, you cannot get enough powder into the case to get into trouble. The 120-grain heeled bullet cast 1 to 30 tin-lead worked well for me.
Your story of the bureaucrat dimwit who thought the .310 "was close to a .308, so why do you need it?" remind me of a story told to me by a buddy in New York who wanted to apply for a permit to purchase a S&W .44 revolver. The ignorant female dog said, "but you have two .22s already?"
My buddy replied, "Lady, wouldn't you rather trade in those cute little 34Bs you have for 36Cs?, then maybe the men on this side of the counter would SMILE at you, you might actually get married one day before you turn 40 and you wouldn't have to live with your mother anymore..."
He got the Model 29. But this was back in the '70s and today for the same remark you would be jailed for your insensitivity because not all city bureaucrats who "look like women" are...
What is our world coming to????
