Just aquired this Applegate 314004, .30 / 210 gr mold. It as you can see is made of brass and is a real beauty. However I can find very little about them on the web. Anyone have any knowledge or experience with them?

Thanks Jeff, I do know how much you appreciate a fine mold.

But I couldn't sleep, just kept bugging me and at some point I remembered seeing his name in print. Could not remember if it was in a book or in something I printed of the net and 3-holed into a folder for future reference. Then "as big as daylight", there it was on the cover of a small folder, "From Ingot to Target: A Cast Bullet Guide for Handgunners" by Glen Fryxell & Rob L, Applegate.

So what I have learned so far is the Mr. Applegate is a talented gunsmith, shooter and sometime maker of molds. From what I gather he stop making molds around 2002-03 (maybe), and did not produce all that many. I read of a pamphlet or catalog of mold designs, but no luck on locating on on the web.

The one common theme that I have read about his molds on various forums & other sites, is that are considered the "finest of the finest", with tolerances dead on.

Come on guys, I know some of you out there can shed some more light.

David,

Check the 2005 BR matches for Washtenaw. Joe Wiekrykas shot an Applegate mold. I haven't seen him for quite some time and don't know if he is still a CBA member.

Paul,

I checked all the match results data and it showed he used a Lyman mold.

Thanks Paul, two different Applegates. He let his membership expire in 2012, but I have his contact info. I will reach out to him and see if he can give me more info on them.
