Well, I probably took leave of what few senses I have left today when I agreed to purchase an 1868 Trapdoor 50-70. I will be picking this up this weekend and start the long road of finding a load and bullet it likes. I guess it just bothered me that I didn't have a rifle to shoot in the Antique and Big Bore postal matches,

Don't worry there is a 12 step program for this insanity. It starts at step one with a muzzle loader. You are on step two, so you have only 10 more to go!

Love my 50/70's, but both are reproductions. Big soft bullets, compressed slightly Fg black powder and soft lube.
