This ones gonna need some work . It will shoot at the moment and I may just tighten it up and kill a deer with it before I bother to bring it back correctly . But my intention is to make it look a good bit more presentable .

Well the lifter wasn't working the best on this thing when I got it and I noticed someone had been working on the underlug with I think a Dremel tool ! So monday I took it apart . The spring for the lifter was missing so replaced that . The stock was also in two pieces . Cleaned the reciever up a bit , replaced the spring and welded the underlug and the piece it fits against . After I did some file work on the weld it was almost imperceptible that the gun had been in the previouse shape . Now when you puch the lifter in it stays up the barrels pop open and you can close it without holding the lifter up . The action was also tightened just a smidge . The stock that came on the gun is actually not a Parker stock but something else that was fitted at some point . Anyway I have the two pieces soaking in lacquer thinner to get the glue and oil out of the wood so I can try and repair it until I can find a usable original stock or have my stocj guy make me a new one !  Hopefully by next thursday I'll have the gun back together and will have started putting a Tung Oil finish on the wood .

The stock issue may be solved . I hit an email from a Parker guy that he thought he had a stock that would work for me . I'll talk to him Sunday I think and perhaps the problem will be solved .

Well after taking measurements of my gun and the Parker fellow measuring his stock I think they're far enough apart that I can't force it to work and make it look decent . So I'm going to try and glue the non Parker stock that came on the gun back together and add a Monte Carlo type deal on the comb of the stock so it fits me well enough to shoot it . And then later if I run across a Parker lifter stock for a #3 frame then I'll buy it and fit it to the gun .

Well I got the stock back together for the lifter gun today as well as installed a new to me old used trigger spring in the gun . Wanna take it out and shoot it a couple times before I try doing the cosmetic touch up work and finishing the wood . And if it holds together I'm going to put a piece of walnut on top the comb to make a sort of monte carlo and perhaps install a recoil pad . Since the stock isn't an actual Parker stock it's no big deal , but will make the gun usable until I can find an old used lifter stock for the gun .

Took the old gun out the other day and fired it a few times and the stock didn't fly apart . Today I am going to fill in any cracks etc in the wrist . Let it dry tonight and then saturday morning I'll start putting a Tung Oil finish on the old gun .  I'm going back and forth about adding a monte carlo to the comb . The idea of adding a recoil pad has been kicked to the curb for now . This old gun will maybe most likely shoot some buckshot handloads at paper and then I'l try and kill a deer with it . Possibly later I'll take it out and try to bag a couple geese . The geese thing has come over me rather late in life , but atleast it's a new found intrest in the guns/hunting spectrum of things .>

Finally got the lifter home today and have the first coat of Tung oil in the wood . Should take me about a week to get the finish done .

At this rate pattern testing with handloaded buckshot should happen some time next month !

Well the lifter is ready for the range , my target frame is ready for the range and I have variouse sizes of buckshot loaded for trial in the right and left barrels .   Our club however has someone working on the berms so I am shutdown unless I set up my target frame here at the house . I live in the country so that is a viable option .

Think I'm gonna take my old lifter back out this Monday . I wanna try buffered 000 and 00 in it so perhaps I can slay some poor unsuspecting whitetail with it in a few short weeks !

Tried some buffered buckshot loads today in my old lifter gun ! Just went with 000 , 00 and #1 buck . The pics are pretty self explanatory . http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Parker%20Grade%202%20lifter%2010%20gauge%20circa%201881/FullSizeRender%208_zpsv2z7mur5.jpg.html>http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Parker%20Grade%202%20lifter%2010%20gauge%20circa%201881/FullSizeRender%207_zpssph1dmmq.jpg.html>http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Parker%20Grade%202%20lifter%2010%20gauge%20circa%201881/FullSizeRender%206_zpsqcjsnnwr.jpg.html>http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Parker%20Grade%202%20lifter%2010%20gauge%20circa%201881/FullSizeRender%204_zps6mquq0zz.jpg.html>http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Parker%20Grade%202%20lifter%2010%20gauge%20circa%201881/FullSizeRender%203_zps5ctxova1.jpg.html>http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Parker%20Grade%202%20lifter%2010%20gauge%20circa%201881/FullSizeRender%202_zpsqofcgm8r.jpg.html>

I went to the range today and brought my old lifter gun along . I wanted to pattern #2 and #3 buck in the right barrel at 25 yards . And I gotta say they both looked acceptable .
