very cool. Guns like that make the hunt that much better. We're hitting the bottoms for doves tomorrow. I'll be using my Winchester M24 16ga.

Got my first ever Cannanada this morning about 7:45 ! Used my grandfathers old circa 1881 W&C Scott 10 gauge . 1 1/4 ounces of Bismuth #1 in a SP-10 wad pushed with 30 grains of SR7625 in brand new unfired Remington hulls and set off with CCI209's ! Truth be told I should have gotten two when I got this one . But I think I shot right under the second one ! http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Canada%20Geese%202015-2016/IMG_8043_zpsw4vfcub3.jpg.html>http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Canada%20Geese%202015-2016/IMG_8044_zpsfpwwpi9u.jpg.html>http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Canada%20Geese%202015-2016/IMG_8056_zpsdpniguxa.jpg.html>http://s50.photobucket.com/user/6pt-sika/media/Canada%20Geese%202015-2016/IMG_8045_zps9cy81jcs.jpg.html>

I don't think that I have ever seen a goose hunter wearing shorts before.  The waterfowl season must open  very early where you are.

Well I recieved a dozen Canadian Goose wind sock decoys from an old friend that no longer hunts . The current president at our gun club just gave me a dozen silhouette goose decoys and it appears I have a slightly used layout blind heading to me for about half the price of a new one !  When the after hunting season sales get here I might have to add a couple dozen more shells , silhouetts or windsocks if I can find windsocks !

In the past I had a Remington SP-10 when they first hit the market in 1989 . I never used it for geese but bought it for turkey . After awhile I got tired of carrying it . Maybe eight years ago I bought a pair of the Ithaca MAG-10 semi auto's . One was the Deluxe version and the other was the Field Grade both were 32” with fixed full choke barrels . They were nice enough but I never liked being held to just full choke and I didn't wanna change them as both were in very pristine condition . At that time I also had a Browning BPS 10 gauge with invector chokes , that thing was awesome with factory loaded buckshot and slugs . Slugs at 50 yards with it were pretty much a ragged hole for 3 shots , which I thought was pretty darned good being as it was with a single front bead and no adjustment anywhere . FWIW at 50 yards with that thing the slugs hit a POI right where you would want it . Buckshot patterns were awesome at 25 yards and very good at 50 yards . Of course I was using the IC choke for slugs and buck . Never tried bird shot in the gun . he only downfall of the 10 BPS was the recoil factor , that thing packed a wallop on both ends . Now I'm contemplating a semi auto 10 gauge again . Kinda thinking another Remington SP-10 or perhaps a Browning Gold Stalker . I've also spent a bit of time researching the Pattern Master chokes for the Remington and Browning 10 gauge guns .

I recently fitted a SP10 barrel to my Ithaca Mag 10 Supreme grade. I too couldn't bring myself to modify my original barrel. With the Rem Choke barrel it has turned into a whole new animal. I purchased a bunch of new old stock Hastings choke tubes from some guy on Gunbroker for way less than the price of what some makers want for one tube.

Even though the SP-10 is a touch heavier then a MAG-10 I found the SP-10 with the 26” to balance better then the MAG-10's I had with the 32” pipes ! I also have about talked myself out of getting another semi and just wait for a Parker EH on a #3 frame with 32” F&F barrels !
