This past weekend at the range I picked up a couple of 45acp brass that are unusual. Wondering if anyone has any knowledge about them. Looking into the case about half way to the bottom the inside demention changes size. There is a shoulder and inside is smaller. I will attempt to show a picture. The head stamp says AMMOLOAD. 45 AUTO

The last I knew, “Ammoload” cases came from Freedom Munitions factory loads. I've seen a number of threads claiming that this brass commonly separates at that internal belt line. In 9mm, I can guarantee that you'd need to work up your own load data. Personally, I'd toss them in the recycling bucket. You could of course, keep them to play with.

Are they intended for +P loads?

It looks to me like the little “shelf"? is meant to keep the bullet from being pushed back into the case like the canelure
on a 38 special wad cutter case.
