Has anyone had any experience with the 6mm or 6.5mm -TCU in a Contender pistol? Accuracy etc, etc. Jacketed or cast.

Not a 6 tcu but close. I have an XP-100 (with its 5th barrel on it) chambered in 6.5 TKS. The case is a 6 BR and the favorite CB is an NOE 266-140. Believe it or not 12.0-grains of 4756. But because the gunsmith does not contour barrels, this barrel is 10 1/2" long, to make CBA weight limit.
Previous barel was a 30 Silhouette, 223 necked up to 30 cal.

Thinking back, Jesse Miller and I discussed the 6mm-.223 years ago. He had built one on an XP-100 action and could not get accuracy with cast. He switched to jacketed and said this was an excellent cartridge for prairie dogs.
Talking to Jim Stekl at the Orlando NRA Annual Meeting years ago about this chambering, he stated if Remington had chambered this wildcat in place of the 6X47, the 6mm PPC would never have been discovered.
My best accuracy came with velocity over 2,000 fps and monotype alloy. I am torn now between switching barrels from the .17-.221 or buying another action to have another pistol.

Not exactly the 6mm TCU, the 6X45. This is the .223 Remington necked up with the the factory shoulder and neck length. The firearm is a custom XP-100 with the action trued, laminated stock, and a lightweight barrel to stay in the Long Range Handgun Weight limit. The barrel is a 1 in 9" twist taken off a custom Model 70. I've shot it with both a Burris 10X Long Eye-Relief scope (hunting) and a Weaver 36X target scope (target).
Bullets are both cast and jacketed:
Jacketed (for prairie dogs)

The XP-100 is a swap-barrel currently with a .17-.221 Fireball barrel on it. After prairie dog season, I will switch it back and start experimenting with the 6X45 again.

I shot a bucket full of 7 mm TCU back in the 1970's through a contender in IHMSA. Shot great but I could never beat the guys with the 7 mm and 30 cal Merrill's. I don't know how a 6 mm would shoot, but I bet pretty good. BTW I only shot jacketed then.

Thanks for the replies.
Thinking about a new barrel for my G-2. for cast. I have never had anything to do with the 6mm or 6.5 mm on a 223 case in the Contender pistol. Endless case supply, easy and simple forming. Sounds like an interesting experiment. Need a new project anyway.

As long as you cast nice bullets, I don't see any reason to avoid this new project. Sounds like lino or harder though for optimal performance.

6x223 has really impressed me
14" SSK Bbl that has received a milling to turn down the front 9" to .55" diameter (I don't know why)
Fully free-floated barrel from rear lug forward.
I haven't cast for it yet. Using 87 gr, bullets and IMR 8208 XBR. Gonna be my 'deer whisperer' this season

I shot a lot of silhouette with a 10 inch 6.5 TCU and at first I had a lot of problems with the barrel and keyholes. After trying ever trick and inspecting the barrel from one end to the other, I sent it back to TC. They sent it back with the strangest crown you have ever seen. It looked like a funnel but shot like crazy. I only used jacketed 140 grain bullets so I cannot be of help on the cast side. It was a great pistol. I also had a 10 inch 357 Herrett barrel. Murder on recoil but accurate. Thanks, Squid

I think it is a Pacific Tool and Gage product.
The original bolt was opened up to work with 30 Kern, then 30 PPC (the best round I pkayed with) and then the 30 silhouette needed a small bolt face so a new bolt was needed.

Tom, I've used a couple cone nose versions in rifles. I like them. Didn't realize they did an XP bolt.

Footnote....
Alloy is 50/50 lino/mono. Scope is a Weaver T-36.
ThE guy who installed the 30 PPC barrel said....”this thing is neither fish nor fowl”
