Any chance anyone has done any work ups with the win 1907 .351. I would be interested in bullet molds, brass, and load data. If anyone has happened to worked up loads and any interesting data concerning this gun. I'm in the process of acquiring a Winchester 1907 351.

Thanks Rich L

What are you using for cases? I hope you have a good supply of the old ones. It's easy enough to get a proper. 352-.354 mold for one of these, and a nominal caseful of RL7 or 4198 approximates factory velocity with a 180-190 grain bullet. Years ago when I loaded for one of these we used. 348 gaschecks, but. 35s could be made to work.

I am friends with a retired lawman in Texas who has one of these, I can email him for info if needed, but this should get you started.

Buffalo Arms may have 351 Win cases. A little pricey. but better than nothing. Could cases be made from 357 Remington Maximum? However, they may be as rare and expensive as 351.

Years ago we head turned .357 Mag to semi-rim similar to. 38 Super or. 38 AMU and loaded #358430 sized to. 354” with compressed nominal caseful of RL7 and it at cycled, though leaded a bit.

Yes cases can be made from .357 Max cases, if you have a lathe, a strong press, good lube, and a lot of patience. I've been down this road and it is much better to find factory cases. There is a lot of ammunition and a fair amount brass out there if you start looking for it. Kinda pricey, but .357 Max brass can be hard to find too. After making a couple of hundred cases and sizing .358 bullets to .351 I got my 07 to function. The thrill disappeared pretty quickly for me, I was too worried about finding ejected brass! The rifle, dies, brass, and my factory ammo collection found a happy home with a friend.

Dear All,

You have mentioned RL7 or 4198 as the powders, do you have a starting grain wt? The mold should casts .352 or .351 with wt's around 180-190 grain. What lube? Or should they be gas checked or both? I need a source of brass if anyone can point me in the right direction? Buffalo arms is a bit expensive.

Thanks, RichIdaho

With RL-7 or 4198 just fill the case full to the base of the bullet. Slight compression is OK. Wheelweight alloy would be fine. Any stick lube will be fine. A GC design is probably better, but a plainbase with a Walters card wad compressing the powder charge, as if loading black powder, will work.

Had one in about 1970 era and I seem to remember just dropping .38 Spl 158 grain rounds into the chamber and using it as a single shot . Did not work the action and we just dumped the empty case out.

Now I wonder if this was really possible?? Got the thing shooting ..

Single loading .38 Specials would probably work as you said.

Here is another source for quality brass. I found some great data using IMR 4227 with a 194 grain LRN bullet. From what I have read, the 4227 is the best choice.
