Lars on the Cast Bullet forum posted that the Lubrizol Corporation had notified him that Alox 350 was no longer going to be available. Lubrizol has made a lot of different compounds. The NRA formula bullet lube was originally made with Alox 2138F mixed with 50% Beeswax, 2138F being discontinued many years ago. Alox 2138F differed from 350 in that 2138F had some microcrystalline wax added. Lars says Lubrizol has given him several similar compounds, and he is testing them. As of earlier this month, Lars said he had about 4 months worth of 350 left.
There is another Alox compound, which is the basis of Lee Liquid Alox. It is thinned with mineral spirits and bullets are swished together with it, to get a light coating, instead of being applied to deep grooves on the bullet.
