Greetings from Serbia. My name is Milorad but you can call me Mickey. I've chosen my nickname by my favourite caliber with whom I've grown up as a hunter. I love hunt, shooting, reloading and bullet casting. I am one of the first to cast bullets in my country. As a begginer, I am seeking knowledge and so, here I am.

Welcome Micky.  We have a lot of knowledgeable cast shooters on the forum.  So most answers will be pretty solid.

We will also be interested about shooting and hunting in Serbis.

Welcome Mickey. We are very curious about practices in other countries. Some time post a picture of your favorite rifle. We would love to see it.

I love to hear how shooting is practiced in other countries.

Now I've got to look at my map...…….typical ethno-centric American here.tongue-out

Michael,

Welcome! Casting and shooting cast bullets can be very rewarding or very frustrating to the beginner. Casting can be simple or complex. I started casting roundballs for my first flintlock  at age 7 in 1957 and shoot only cast in many calibers to .458 Win Mag and .500 S&W Magnum. I started with 1 mold, 1 ladle and a campfire. I pride myself on my current simple and inexpensive Lee bottom pour setup that works well. I am a retired casting analyst from the gold industry and can diagnose any casting problem from a sample or a good close up photo. Determining bullet diameter accurately for your firearm is the first important step toward accuracy in shooting cast bullets, Alloy strength  related to load level is second and lube is least relevant.

Thank you all for a warm welcome and first directions. At first I will be reading a lot of stuff already written on the site, since I saw a lot of answers on my questions on some other topics. I got some gear that is available here, including Lee bottom pot. I cast shotshell slugs too. I started getting interested in this because I bought a little bit too much (actually very much 😂) of lead and linotype that I got for free 😂 I apologize for some grammar mistakes, my english is as good as my knowledge in bullet casting 😂

There's no such thing as "a little too much of lead and linotype".  Don't say stuff like that around here if you want to fit in. wink(Just kidding.)

Mickey,

We are were pleased to have you join our forum. Many of us enjoy using molds from M-P in Slovenia, which is a lot closer to you than the U.S., do you use any of their molds? Also please tell us about reloading there and what is available to you as well as firearms. As some of the others have said, we would very much enjoy hearing about anything related to firearms, casting and handloading there.

Hey Cool! Welcome!

I did a tour in Kosovo and a vacation in Sofia, Bulgaria so I have actually traveled through the southern end of your country!

I loved everything about that area, some beautiful scenery! Well, maybe except paying the gangsters to use the roadside bathrooms while they stand there and watch to make sure if I paid to take a number 1, I only took a number 1. (A number 2 was a different charge.)

Sofia was absolutely gorgeous and I had a great time. In Sofia, there was a bar and dance club called "Biblioteka" (SP?) that had a Harley hanging above the bar. I wonder if that bar is still there.... Only place I have ever seen where the waitresses would take shots with you. Also bought a very lovely hand stitched and fitted wool jacket there.

Welcome aboard Mickey,

I'm glad to have you join us. Though you are a beginner there is always something we  can learn from you.  I am anxious to hear more about loading and casting for metric (European) cartridges.  The 7x57 is a personal favorite of mine.  I have killed 4 elk with it; two of them with the same bullet.  That is a long story for another time.

Best Wishes,

Brodie

Hello friend's. 7X57 is great caliber. One my friend was said" mother in all calibers" very precize and low recoil, very fine choise for most animal without african big game animals. I prefer 7x64 brenneke for hunting deers becouse a bether trajectory and little more energy for long distances. It's very similar with .280rem. I love shot and hunt with my mauser 9.3x62 load with lead bullets. For the sporting shoting i got .308 zastava with costum heavy varmint barell. Laminated stocks and target scopes assembling for the f- clas tr. Competition here in Serbia is very pupular and many of my friends is a competitors on the national levels.

oh yes it's really madness.. Here in Serbia in these days is not green spring for the gun owners. Europian union created new rules for everything and gun owners are in a big problem. Thousands of people gave away their guns to be melted in steel factories without the money replacement from the country. Reason for that are expensive taxes and high price gun registration that has been imported from the EU. We are fighting trough our gun and hunting associations but without any greater results. The special politics are used against us by civil, non goverment societies that want to ban gun ownership. The pressure on us is pretty high right now. The new law limits everything about guns ( which calibers can be used, scope zoom power), for gun reloading we must have licenses that are given by the PD. Getting those licenses is very hard. That's basically the situation here. The bastards in politics are afraid of armed people. The only weapon they want to leave us is a pen and a paper every 4 years for voting purposes. Best regards from european banana republic of Serbia P.S. the worst thing is that Serbia isn't even a part of the EU and won't be any time soon because the west countries don't like us...

Until we start electing politicians with more brain than mouth we will all have this problem.  Some of the states here in the USA and a number of our cities have gun laws like those you suffer under.  We need people in government who can distinguish between the tool and the user.  So many fools can not do this, but they can still yell about it at the top of their lungs.

Welcome aboard, we are glad to have another member, and I hope and pray that they don't start calling you an manufacturer because you cast your own bullets.
