Had to share this pic sent to me by Mike Hastings, of Sam Hotton shooting the 10x25mm Rimmed H&R Bunny Gun with 22 grains of Goex 3Fg "Flaming Dirt" and Accurate 40-224H, SPG lube, velocity 998 fps., no leading, easy cleanup with Ballistol.

Pic was selected from a stack of hi-res video frames off Mike's iPhone.

I can make my Taurus 357 snub nose smoke almost like that by using a 170 grain SWC, a soft lube, and SR 4759 powder.

Ordered two Traditions Outfitter G2 rifles today, one in ,44 magnum and the other in .357 magnum. I already have three single shot bigger bore rifles from CVA, Scout V2s in .45-70, .444 Marlin and .35 Whelen. Both rifles are very similar, except the CVA have Bergara barrels and are made by them. The Traditions have Lother Walther barrels and made by them.

So with my .357 Outfitter G2 I will finally have a bunny gun, also capable of taking deer size game with proper projectile and placement. However I have no plans to use black powder.

...or putting Reloader 7 under it but that's another argument for another thread.

"Flaming Dirt"  WHAT!   The Mother of all Powders! "Holy Black" Good Grief!!!!   All them fancy modern powders are just a passing fancy! undecided Good picture though I did enjoy that!

"Flaming Dirt" comment is a reference to the brown column behind the white "doughnut" typical of Goex powder, whereas the smoke cloud produced by higher quality Swiss or KIK is as white as Casper the Ghost.

OK that's better guess I just never saw brown cloud most of the time I'm behind the gun so don't see much anyway. I'll be checking out the Ole Eynsford to see what kind of smoke trail it leaves as other people shoot it. It has become my favorite black powder and is even made in the good old US of A I think?

Ed, while you are the first to call it "flaming dirt", it has been noted for years that Goex has a brown "stain" in the smoke. Two guesses are one, they don't use enough potassium nitrate and the other is the charcoal feed stock. You can reduce it by going to a finer grain size and compressing the snot out of it.

Very cool! One of the first loads I shot in my .32 S&W long handi rifle was a Lee 309-113f breech seated over a case full of 3fg Goex using 50/50 beeswax and olive oil for lube. Tons of fun using the same case for an afternoon of plinking. This kind of stuff is why I enjoy the CBA so much!
