Bullets too long for an RCBS Lubrisizer

I have an RCBS Lube-a-Matic II, and the space between the top of the sizing die and the top punch is inadequate for some long .45 bullets for my .45-70, like the Lyman 535 grain Postell and the Lee 500 grain 3R.  I've been using it without a top punch, but that puts a ring on the nose of the bullet.  I've been thinking of just turning a thin, flat pad with a stem on the lathe, to fill the hole.

I really need a second lubrisizer for harder lube for my pistol bullets, as I've been using SPG for everything, and it gets very soft during the summer.

But before I buy another one, I wanted to find out if the Lyman has a bigger opening?  I don't want a Saeco, as I already have a good number of sizing dies for the RCBS/Lyman.  Am I missing something?

Is there another solution I'm missing?

Just checked my old LYMAN 450. The opening between bottom of Top Punch and top of the sizing die is 1 1/2 inches.

Can't imagine LYMAN would make the new 4500 Lube-Sizer that wouldn't have an opening that WOULDN'T take their longest bullet.

I can't remember if the old RCBS 1st model Lube-Sizer (LACHMILLER) I used to have, was any different.

Sorry I don't have anymore info for you.

That was my solution for 400 grain .40caliber bullets also. Made my own.

My rcbs-lam II is 1.5 also.

Sounds like that's the way to go, then.  I may try making one where the recess for the nose of the bullet extends up into the stem a small amount also, rather than just making a flat one.

Thanks for all the replies.

I use a pair of 450's.  One set up for hard and the other soft lube.  Have been doing the Lyman Postell with no problem.
