CBA Postal events—-altered schedule

This is for shooters who will be participating in the CBA Postal program, not to be confused with the Groundhog Postal being conducted on this Forum, which is in a holding pattern for the time being.

The CBA Postal program has some targets that are due on 1 or 15 May. However, the situation with the virus has caused some gun clubs being closed, even to their members. The CBA appreciates that access to a shooting range may be problematic for some Postal shooters. To accommodate this upset condition, any CBA Postal targets that have a due date of 1 May or 15May, are extended to 1 or 15 June. Keep an eye on this Forum to see if, in the future, the June due dates are extended also, due to potential government shifts in the open or keep closed date parameters, etc.

Please tell any Postal shooters that you know who may not follow this Forum or may not have a computer or e-mail, about this target due date change.

Thanks!

Tom

In a way I am happy for the delay.  I still haven't found a truly accurate load for any of my military rifles.  Another 30 days is a blessing at this point.

They just extended us another two weeks until May 18th and that is likely to be extended also.  I hope that the ranges open before June 1st.

Gov Charlie Baker has already said that gun stores, ammo stores etc are not essential due to the 1917 court case out of New Orleans where a boat with guns on board wasn't allowed to dock.  To me it seems like a bit of a stretch even for a RINO

Minnesota also got extended to 18 May by our governor yesterday. But we have gun stores open, so it appears like each State has its own way of looking at things.

I score some of the CBA Postal targets. One of them is the “Season Rifle”, which means you get (4) sets of targets. One target is due 1 May, 1 June, 1 July and 1 August. I usually receive about 15-20 targets shortly before the first of the month. So far only (5) have arrived. This could mean only a few clubs are now open for shooters to use or the Postal sign-ups this year are way down. I think probably favor the former, due to the influences of the virus but who knows.

Our club was closed to members, even though we are a private club, but then following the governor’s altered orders, we were able to let shooters start using the facility. The social distancing thing has had an impact on our ability to conduct specific events.

Sorry to say here in Massachusetts we won't be allowed to compete in the first rounds of the matches as they just came out with the new rules, virtually everything still closed for the next 3 weeks AND anyone over 65, which is me, are still locked down ONLY emergency health appointments and (reluctantly they allow) you to go to a grocery store to avoid starvation but the rest of the time anyone over 65 has to be quarantined on top of that the ranges are still closed for the next 3 weeks and potentially the next 6!

I am hoping but not hopeful that we will be allowed out of the house before July!

Guys,

I reviewed this with the CBA Postal Director, Mike Kastning.

Since the states all have varying approaches as to how and when to open, we want the shooters who have signed up to get out and shoot....eventually.

There are a handful of 4-month "season" events that have due dates of May, June July August and Sept., depending on the event. Here is what the CBA will do....

Extend the due date for all season events to be 1 Oct. 2020. Shoot them when you can and send them in before 1 Oct. The CBA will have only season awards, aggregate scores, and will have the summary reports published at the end of the year. We won't have monthly "winners", just aggs.

If you sense timing difficulty, with non season Postal events let me know, maybe we can work something out.

We just want our shooters to get out and enjoy themselves.....with some level of competition included!

Thank you very much!  I am chomping at the bit to get out and if the ranges were open I would regardless of my being over 65 and by law in Mass I have to quarantine

BUT I can tell the cops that "I self-identify as under 65" and in today's society they cannot dispute it,

after all " I'm half-horse, half-alligator and a little attached with snapping turtle."

WE are all locked down in WA, because shooting is against the public spirit. Luckily, the County Commissioners open the county parks and that includes my shooting range.

Well I missed the Timed handgun, still under quarantine.  I was going to send for the Single shot match but don't see it getting better.  Will try to get the season matches done but not sure when I will allowed to go to the range, at this point it looks like next year,  this sux

Jeff,

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I was out shooting tiday. All rifles, this trip no handguns. (5) Postals checked off the list! Two 200-meter BPCR, one 100-yard season rifle, one 100-yard Club hunting rifle and the 50-yard Groundhog on this forum. All were with the BPCR except the season rifle which was a Remmington Rolling Block in .38-55.

Some of the Postal shooters are staying on schedule and some are doing it but coming in late, but not a big deal.

Our gun club has had monthly membership and Board meetings, since 1965. But since March no meetings and the gun club survives. When I was working there were too many meetings so I appreciate the lack of club meetings. Hope we can modify the by-laws to reduce the number of meetings! I'm on the Board but joined the club to shoot guns, not sit in a room and waste time shooting the breeze! Maybe one benefit of the Covid craziness?

Hope you are eventually released from prison and can get out to shoot....soon!

Tom, I'm glad that you and Mike extended the turn in date so far you are the only one that has sent in a Turkey target maybe some of the other guys can get some shooting in. I enjoy looking over the targets and especially the comments that some of the shooters write on the targets as I can relate to the comments and bullets holes, been there and done that!

Keep up the good work!

Tom,Mike

As a big supporter of the CBA postal matches.  I would like to see all due dates extended.

Reading through the comments it would appear that might be a good Idea.

Thanks for your time.
