I've been casting bullets for more than 20 years now and have been a member of the Cast Boolit webforum for almost the same amount time but I finally decided to join the CBA and try my luck in a few Postal Matches.  I also want to commit myself to get a bit more serious about my casting bullets for long distance accuracy out to 300 yards.  I shoot NRA Highpower Rifle Matches at my Gunclub here in Indiana and my goal this year is to try to shoot the entire season using my cast bullets in various rifles.  I cast and reload for more than 36 different pistol and rifle calibers and I use traditional lubes as well as the new polymer coating but I know I will learn even more from using this forum and its members.

welome !! ... although probably more than half of us are just glorified plinkers with cast, i think all of us would be very interested in following your progress in more serious competition with cast.

after all, success with cast competition teaches we plinkers how to get better results with our more casual approach to accuracy/consistency.

and just maybe if we see that we could do well in competition with cast, some of we here plinkers might take a stab at putting our shots on record ... heh ...

*************

just getting a little into this .... would a consistent 2 moa ( benched )  at 2400 fps be good enough to get you close to what you would get in hi-power position shooting if you used sierra matchkings ?? ...  or what do you think it might take ?? .... be interested in your approach to competition ...

keep us informed, there is much to be learned even from not-up-to-prime-time ( ok, miserable failures ) loads ... even us plinkers aspire to smaller groups.

bdrake71, I am a new guy here too and also have my sights set on some 'long distance' performance. I have honed in on .308 Winchester for now because it seems to give me the best chance at eventually hitting a plate at 400 yards. For now, I need to get the balance between a tight group and higher velocity at 100 yards. Some new molds will need to be purchased soon. So far the 75 yard group is good.Hope you have great success.

Hi there and welcome from TN! I know you'll like it here and hopefully learn a lot and share your knowledge. While you said you want to get really serious about LR competitive shooting with cast, please take the time to have some fun. The current 2019 Bunny Shoot is a great example of a wonderful group activity where you can participate in a "match," and the only person you really compete with is yourself. It's a great opportunity to bring some of those really old, forgotten safe queens out and give them a whirl in a low pressure, non judgemental environment. Again, welcome. Ed

Growing old is mandatory, growing up, however, is totally optional!

Another "welcome" from Texas. I moved here from Hopkinsville, TN some years ago to be back with family. Sure do love and miss TN.
