Over the past week I have been contacted by two prospective new CBA members responding to our ad in Handloader magazine. Both can't access the CBA website, saying it is not available and both using Century Link as their internet provider.

Does anyone using the forum use Century Link? If so chime in.

I've had some trouble with my search engine not finding a page. I don't know who provides for our local small town service company. Ross

Lots of RV parks in CA block web sites with "bullet" "gun", etc. and have for years on WI-FI. You have to use your phone to get connected. Same with hospitals here in WA.

I am in NW Wisconsin and have Charter/Spectrum for an ISP. All gun-related sites work ok.  My friend 5 miles down the road has centurylink and the CBA site is blocked.  I told him to complain but have my doubts that he will.  The executive board needs to follow up on this.

I have a call and email sent to our computer guru and am waiting on a reply. Don't know if we can do anything. Each individual can do what one of the two guys did, he dropped their service and went with another provider. However in small towns or rural areas Century Link may be their only choice as a matter of fact that was the situation with the other guy.

I have been having the same problem with Century Link for the past two weeks. I spent money and a lot of time trying to prove it was not my computer. Yesterday I finally told Century Link that I would have to find a new internet provider and guess what, today I got onto the website. Lets see how long it will work.

Could be band width issues with your ISP. This is a very slow loading site, and I sometimes can't get on during the times kids get home from school and are all over the web playing games.

The one that try to get on here yesterday to check the site had high speed, because they are a computer repair store beside sell them and other items. I know it is not my computer then,  for what the person done to check.

I was on the phone for almost 2 hours with Century Link and they tried to tell me it was in my computer. I had no trouble getting on with any other Internet provider that I tried, only Century Link. They finally said it was in there server. I asked if it was the word Bullet and got an answer that was a maybe. They said they would look into it and get back to me. They never got back to me but the next day it was working. The word Bullet is my guess.

Century Link is a terrible internet provider.  I know I am on it right now.  When you call the tech out the problem is never with their modem even if it is, and they know it.  They weren't too bad before AT&T bought them out. I think that they were trying to build up a business and they did.  Now ATT is reaping the profits from it.  Service is spotty and always slow.  Find another internet provider.  You will be doing yourself a favor.

I have been happy with Spectrum (i.e. Charter) the digital cable TV provider. FWIW

I've had nothing but trouble logging on to the CBA.  Yes, centurylink. My shortcut that worked for ever, comes up site can't be reached. Turns out there was one letter in the CBA address that had been changed by someone somewhere and was no longer forums in the address but simply forum, Thanks to a post by Dale over at Boolits that contained a link to the CBA thread on lead and the state of California I'm able to reach this site and log in with user name and password. The new shortcut will get me here through Centurylink but will not accept my user name or password. For now I'm using Dales link as a workaround. I have to change providers and go through changing my address at all contacts. Always something to stump a person who's not a computer whiz. Ok rant over. Gp

I have nothing but trouble staying on the internet.  I can readily log onto the CBA forum, but staying connected is my problem.  Connection is difficult no matter which site I am on.  I really have to change my internet ;provider.

I am out of Hayward, Wisconsin and have had Centurylink way before they were Centurylink. Then they were Centurytel and they were dial-up. They supply my Internet and any time it goes out I phone them and they trace down the problem and tell me what is going on. Usually it involves construction and ditch digging where the contractor was too lazy to get the underground wires marked before he starts digging. Also, Centurylink covers the entire top third of the state of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. In the holiday seasons, deer hunting and summer, also skiing time, the population of Wisconsin shifts and ends up in Centurylink territory. The draw on their system is huge. All the tourists bring their toys and Wi-Fi turns into constant buffering. For what it's worth, If you use the Centurylink site as your searching area, you have chosen the worse! I use Firefox, have done this for years and have no trouble at all. Choose another browser and most of the trouble should go away.

GregT,

I use Fire fox as well.  As stated  my problem is acquiring the internet and staying on it.  Occasionally I have a little difficulty getting on the CBA site, but no major blockage.  Maybe if the members who are  having constant trouble switched browsers??

If it is a problem with the word 'bullet' appearing in your URL, maybe a link shortener would work. I went to the site bitly.com and entered 'castbulletassoc.org' and got the link:

https://bit.ly/3di1JeO

I entered that and it took me to the home page. However, after I entered it the CBA address showed up in plain text and then brought me here.

I would not recommend you enter that short URL straight into your machine - why should you trust me?- but you could do the same thing I did - go to bitly, go down to the bottom of the page where there's a text box and get your own address.

Another technique might be to look up the CBA in Google, and jump from there.

If we're trying to get around a net nanny the best bet might be to ask a teen about how they get out from the school net.

Tedly: Thanks for the Google connection trick. I tried it and here I am. I'm dropping Centurylink next week and going over to Sparklight formerly Cable One. Hope that doesn't open another can of worms. Computers just love to fight with me. Gp
