Greetings from England. I have been casting for long enough to know that you don't always get it right.

Recently acquired a Birmingham Parker Hale Navy two band, mold from S&S because they are not available in the UK. Hoping you guys will steer me into the bull. smile

The Parker-Hale 2-band rifles are wonderful. Workmanship as good as most originals.

I once had an original 2-band volunteer rifle by Isaac Hollis & Sons which I shot in N-SSA competition.  I used the "old style" Lyman Minie bullet cast 1:50 tin-lead, with 50 grains of Curtis & Harveys 2Fg black powder and dip-lubricated the bullets with 2 parts of Crisco shortening to 1 part of beeswax.

I sold the rifle in 1968 and the proceeds paid for a year's tuition at Virginia Tech.

Thanks Ed, UK firearms laws mean that I have to wait for some civilian in a police station to add it to my list. Five weeks so far and they haven't even cashed my cheque! I have made a note of your 'formula'. I paid £325 for the gun which I bought online and unseen but is is , I'm told, in 'new' condition. I'll let you all know how I get on -----when!!

johngardner,

Welcome to the forum and CBA from West Tennessee! Ed

Growing old is mandatory, growing up, however, is totally optional!

Thanks, growing old is fun!

I can be grumpy and blame it on age! Someone said to me the other day, "Did you have to park in front of my house?". I said "No, Madam I CHOSE to park in front of your house, at my age the only things I have to do, is eat and drink and pee and poo!"

I just took delivery on a Churchill 6.5x55 mm last Friday.  It has a like new bore and only a couple of mild scratches on the stock.

Welcome aboard John; I think you will enjoy this bunch of :Lead Loonies:.

Thanks Guys (Do KIWIs say Fellas?)

Just arrived back at Bisley after a week-end with our daughter in Ipswich.

Going to my gun dealers this afternoon to drool over my 'new' gun and maybe stroke it a little tongue-out

Lead Loonie - I like that, I'm certainly qualified as a loonie.

Best wishes

John
