Like George Washington-I Cannot Tell A Lie

When telling about my most recent  .17 caliber rifle, I've got to admit that I did tell a lie. I said that I was going to shoot the rifle a bunch before I started reshaping the ugly shaped wood on such a nice little rifle. Well, I couldn't stand to look at it any longer, so today I pulled the forearm off and started reshaping to please my eye and also the eyes of others. It looks so much different than it did before. I'm ready to start sanding but I'm going to stick the forearm back on an do some shooting before I completely finish the job. I hope that I can refrain myself from reworking the buttstock for a little while longer.  I dug out all of the .218 Bee cases that I could rummage out of my cache and called all over the place looking for more .218 brass. It was available on line but none of the stores in the area had any. I did find some 25-20 brass and was going to drive and get it tomorrow, to reform but the man I purchased the rifle from called and said he had found 200 new 218 Bee cases and the price was right. I now have about 3-4 hundred cases to form to .17 Ackley Bee brass. SORRY ABOUT THE LIE, I PROMISE NEVER TO TELL ANOTHER ONE. I can't understand why 25-20 brass is so cheap and .218 Bee brass is so expensive.

I Told Another Lie,

Like I said before that I wasn't going to modify the wood on the new .17 until I fired it a bunch and couldn't resist reshaping the forearm and the forearm looked so much better that it really made the butt stock look bad but I wasn't going to touch it until I was satisfied with the shooting results. Well, last night I was setting at the work bench looking at the rifle and I couldn't take it any longer. I grabbed some tools and started reworking the butt stock. It already looks much better. Maybe I won't tell any more lies.

.25-20 brass is so cheap????? What????? I heard Buffalo Arms had .25-20 brass but shipping was high when I checked, so I didn't buy any. I'm living with what I've got of old W.R.A. brass I've annealed.

Mashburn, the only new Bee brass I've see has been Hornady. W-W hasn't made a run in years. Although W-W did make a run recently of 25-20 but even that has dried up.  Sure wish Starline would make a run of 218 Bee. Every time I called they said it wasn't going to happen.

Hello Dukem,

A gun shop and reloading component store about 50 miles from here has 150 new 25-20 W-W cases. Compared to what that normally sells for their price is a bargain. I guess I should say what it was selling for before it disappeared. I'm thinking of driving back up and purchasing it just to have it on hand because the way everything is going ,scares me. I bought 200 hundred new .218 Bee cases from an individual today. I only paid $60.00 for all of it

Hello ray h,

Read my post to Dukem and see what I said about purchasing new W-W Bee brass today and the 25-20 WW brass that is available close to here, I  think I will go purchase the 25-20 brass.
