broke a 96 mauser extractor and wonder if it will interchange with a 98 mauser before i order one??

I do not have a definite answer to that, but since Libertytreecollectors.com has M96 extractors for $22.00 and K98 extractors for $29.00, maybe not.

Buy the M96 extractor, as they are much better quality than an unknown M98 made by 20 different companies.
