ON TWIST

While trying to find out if jacketed bullets shoot more accurately/easier than cast bullets, at cast bullet velocities, I reduced powder charges and velocities until either the bullets shot wildly or a bullet stuck in the barrel.

Sometimes tipping bullets are accurate, sometimes bullets shoot wildly without tipping, and sometimes bullets shoot sideways but form reasonable groups.

All records are about 5-shot, 100 yard groups.

hi joeb

that table makes my eyes bleed ... we need some more backup testing ...  maybe it only happens near the bermuda triangle ...

if i take my little 22 hornet, with 14 twist, and load some 50 gr. mj to ~ 1100 fps, will they wobble and fly off into the brush ?? ...

why haven't more of us duplicated your slow mj test ?? ...  maybe because we usually go for about 1450-1800 even in reduced loads ?? both mj and cast bullets ...

Yes.! But, above ~ 2340 fps, accuracy.

Frank must have, he knew it all 34 years ago.
