After my discussion last week regarding lubes and whether to change or not, decided to purge the Lube'a'sizer and put a fresh batch of new (not 30yrs old) lube into the tube.
It was all working fine until I noticed a change in the sound of the lube melting out of the sizer and falling into the tin I had conveniently placed underneath. Instead of a soft sound it was tink tink tink.
When it was cool enough to only burn slightly I retrieved some of the hard fragments of what was in the lube. I had extruded pieces of lead. I sized about 50 357 projectiles from #2 on Friday night for the weekend and it seems that they were extruding through the lube holes in the sizing die and back into the lube reservoir, no wonder I wasn't getting a full fill.
The projectiles drop from the mould at 359 and I can't use them unsized as they swell the cases too much to chamber so have to size them to 357.
Has anyone else come across this previous, does anyone purge their sizer. When I melted the lube out of the actual sizing die I had extrusions in two of the lube ports and one in the lube channel itself in the die.
Thoughts appreciated.
