Wasn't there at one time a little twirly thingy at the top of the forum page that signaled a PM in the mail box without having to log in to find out? Am I missing something or/ is this feeble mind wandering again?

Tried the contact us with forum issues topic but it went no where.

I think that was before the upgrade.

About 90% of the time I'm here I don't log in, just a quick check on what's new. I think a notification as to PMs would be very handy, logged in or not. Always wonder when I send a PM or E-mail if it got through to the intended party. Gp

PM notification has always been a number beside the "my tools" tab indicating the number of PMs you have. When you have sent a PM it shows below the PM dialog box as being the last one sent or answered. The system works well and has since the launch of the forum. If there is a PM question not found in the "Forum FAQ", let me know and I will add it.

I know David, but to get to the "my tools", I still have to log in to check. All I get when the forum page comes up is "Register" and "Log in"

Me too, RD. I've have had to "log in" every time I come to the page and always have. I think it is the same for everyone using google, google Chrome and Edge.

I am aware of the fact that you have to login when you come to the forum each time. I have a request in to lengthen the login period to 24 hours. I will let everyone know when that changes, until then you have to login to see your PMs and use other features.

Funny, I haven't had to log on ever since we got the new "configuration" for the Forum.  I DO have some trouble just opening the Forum sometimes.......Just a few minutes ago, for instance.  I've got a hunch that's more my computer's fault, though.

Mine times out after a time. Never have checked but it can't be for very long. Such as taking a coffee cigar break during the typing of a reply. Then coming back a finding that I have to do it all over again. Sometimes not.

I  get timed out at least half the time whenever I post or reply.

I inquired about not being able to stay logged in, a few months ago. David said that you are logged out, after 4 hrs, when you click the keep me logged in button. He said it was to speed up the server and make the forum run faster. Am I right, David?

I also asked about the PM's before the change and was told that, if a request was made, they would try to find the one requested, at least at that time.

Like others, I read the forum and only log in when I want to post. It's probably been a month or more since I logged in today.

When I see something that I would like to respond to. I have to log in and then search for the thread and and the responce I want to respond to, even though I was there reading it when I had to log in. Very frustrating when it's a long thread. I would post more and visit more, if it wasn't for the log in every 4 hrs. But, then, some people probably thing that's a good thing

I would like to be able to stay logged in, as it was before.

Frank
