I can,t find any deformed places on the no check bullet. Gas check still measures .264,no check bullet, gas check groove measured .250, after shooting is .255. Fired from 6.5 creedmor,13gr. IMR 4198.I need to load & shoot more to compare, the way I read the books, the Plain base should have eroaded? Someone has done this before! Please give me your KNOWLEDGE!  Thank You---Nosee.

Soft lead mushrooms, hard cast crumble. That's why soft is better for hunting. Also like 45 2.1 sez-it takes pressure to get gas cutting. I usually can't find good looking spent bullets in our rocky ground.

i looked a these very good, found no erosion. When the weather lets me, I,ll shoot more at targets on sandtrap. Maybe increase charge 1gr. at a time, check for accuracy and erosion. One good thing the bullets holes were clean & centered, not tipped. ----Nosee.

You are shooting a VERY light load. It takes some pressure to erode a plain base bullet. Usually you find them with powder kernel indentations imprinted into the base when shot at enough pressure. A gas check bullet that soft will bump up to match the rest of the bearing surface with a higher pressure load than you used. With a hard enough gas check bullet you should see gas cutting and some erosion if you don't put a gas check on it or protect it someway.
