Sizing for use in revolver

Just starting to load cast for the .327 Fed Mag.  Refresh my memory please.  Should I not size the bullets to match the size of the cylinder?  (Assuming that is equal to or slightly larger than groove diameter.)

That's right. I like the cylinder throats to be .001" over groove diameter and size the bullets so that they won't fall through the throats, but can be pushed through by hand. I call it a tight slip fit.

That is exactly what you should do, assuming that the cylinder is larger than the groove diameter of the barrel.  You can try the bullets to check for size by pushing them through the cylinders with a pencil or dowel.  It should only take a couple of pounds pressure to push them through.  No pressure or they drop through and the bullets are too small.

THANKS!   I'm casting at about .315-.316 and throats are about .314 with groove at about .312 .

Now to find/make a .314 push through sizer....

If the .315 and .316 " Bullets will chamber I would not bother making a .324" die as long as you can lube them with the lube of your choice.  The cast bullets will size down without any pressure problems on their way out of the chamber.  Remember the pressures in a revolver and with cast bullets are lower (unless you are a confirmed hotter is better guy), and the lead sizes down much easier than jacketed stuff.

Don't know yet if the as-cast wadcutters will chamber.  Will find out soon.  The .314 Lyman/RCBS die was too big and the .313 Lyman/RCBS did better.  Tumble lube on this one.  Will make comparisons to see what shoots best.  Agree, the less modifying of an existing bullet the better.
