H335 is military surplus WC844 which was used for loading 5.56mm Ball M193.  It works well in applications which permit you to nearly fill the case, to occupy 90% or so of the available powder space, such as in the .223, .30-30 and .308 Win., where it approximates factory loads, but it does not tolerate larger amounts of free airspace in the case, so it is NOT suitable for loading cartridges such as the .45-70 or .30-'06.

While some people have used it successfully in reduced loads with a bulky Dacron filler to take up free airspace in the case and to keep the powder positioned against the primer, I do not recommend the practice, having ringed a barrel doing so with cast loads in a .30-30 Remington 788 years ago.

Now I find out.  I have been loading H335 and the Hornady 150 SP in 30-06 since the late '70's.  Guess I will have to go back to the crunchy IMR 30-31

Duane, no need to quit using that load in your '06.

H335 is my "go to" powder for replication M193 (55 FMJBT) in 5.56 and with 52 - 55 gr HP/SPs in my 223/5/56 loads.  It also is my "go to" powder for replicating 7.62 NATO M80 and 30-06 M2 (the latest version at 2800+ fps) with 147 - 150 gr jacketed bullets.

With cast bullets H335 is excellent with the smaller cases such as 7.62x39, 30-30 and the 35 Rem with load densities of 80 + %.

If in climate where the temp goes below freezing ignition problems can be had with standard primers.  Thus a magnum strength primer is best or one made for use with ball primers.  I just use Winchester primers as they are made for ball powder ignition.

While not a round you run into very often, the 30 Kern (a modified 7.62x39) worked well an LBT 180-grain or Eagan 175-grain bullet in a Rem. XP-100, single shot, bolt action pistol. The load was 31.7-grains.But....enjoy the fireball in low light conditions!
