Looking for my old friend. Has anyone heard from Onondaga? (Gary)

David, Gary was a force unto himself. He was intelligent, articulate, obstinate, opinionated, thoughtful, talented, learned, and intense. I too miss his stance on all things related to our sport. His desire to advance our sport was never in question. I loved the back and forth he would bring to any discussion. Well I guess it was less back and more forth as he was adamant about his beliefs. I would have loved to spend a day or two in the woods with him and his flintlocks in a tree stand. If you have ever had Chrysanthemum tea in a Chinese restaurant, you know what I mean. Super intense but not for everybody's taste. RIP Gary, we miss you.

I remember he liked the White Label 45-45-10 tumble lube. I have a bottle under end table next to me as I speak.

He's why I started Tumble Lubing with WLL 45-45-10.

I last talked to him in March of 2019. He said that he had gotten a spike buck. He was elated. He also mentioned that his legs weren't working well. Did he have another stroke? His death really saddens me.

RIP Gary.  Used his bore polish method on several MILSURPS and used guns, always helped accuracy.

Good to see you post again Pat.  Gary answered my first post here at the CBA and was quick to voice an opinion. Like him or not he was a part of this forum family. RIP Onandaga. Gp

Been absent for quite some time. My wife passed 1 yr. & 5 months ago due to AML. Knocked me down for a long time. Still does sometimes. Lost interest in all of my hobbies. But I knew, that I had to keep doing the things that I used to love to do until I loved to do them again. Trying to move forward.

.... and he did inspire me to use his " turtle wax chrome polish " to shine up my barn-find rusty old-but-real-gun  Makarov ... took about a week while watching old westerns on tv .... and it did turn that weird russian metal into chrome !! ...  think of him everytime i harness up my lower-risk carry companion ...

Man walked up to a horse and hit it on the head with a lead pipe.  They asked him why did he do that?  The man said, "I have to train him.  But first I have to get his attention."

Sometimes I felt like Gary would hit me with a lead pipe.  But then he would follow up with a whole lot of knowledge and experience.

Lead pipe only worked with me about 25% of the time. BUT! Some of his ideas worked out very well.

His bore polish method has worked well for me. Used it on my "Flinters"!
