Lee Precision has asked me to poll CBA members for suggestions on bullet designs they should add to their line for next year. This post cast a little larger net than just CBA members but I would welcome your suggestions on designs you would like to see them offer. Please give enough details. A drawing would be ideal but describing it in words would be a start -- caliber, weight, nose shape, etc. I will compile your suggestions and see that they get back to the person at Lee who wants the information. This is your chance to possibly influence what is offered. Thanks for your suggestions. John
What bullet design would you like to see a mold for?

I agree with the idea of Lee producing molds for the 22 CF cartridges. I would love to see some 6 cavity molds resembling the 224353 and 225438.

Something like Lyman's #257463, 75 gr., useful for squirrel hunting, turkey hunting, and plinking in cartridges like .25-20, .25-222, 250 Sav. And .22 cal.

I would like to see the Lee 30 cal 180gr. or 200gr. or 220gr. without a gas check. A 357 cal. 200gr. for pistol. And a 358 cal. 250 gr. rifle bullet.

.35 caliber rifle mold(s) that cast .360"; i.e., something to compete with SAECO#356 and RCBS35-200FN that would be good compromise mold(s) for the 35Rem, 358Win and 350RM... heavy emphasis on the latter two. SAECO#356 with a little more meplat and a .351” to .352” nose, perhaps. Don't scrimp on the gas check shank diameter either.

6 cavity rifle molds would sell like hot cakes. Rifle molds without the crimp grove, just make it solid where the crimp is at. Get rid of the bevel bases on the pistol designs.

Vassal:A .312 bullet can be used as cast (in my rifles). A .314 would require sizing, which may bump up the nose dia.

Why .312? everything .312 can do .314 can do better,,,

I like Onondaga ' s idea. .312 diameter as cast, no gas check & a big ole meplat.

A 150 gr. double ended, bevel base, wadcutter that would cast at .360-.361 out of wheel weight-ish metal would be nice. In both standard lube groove and tumble lube groove design.
^^This with the exception that it is plain based. Bevel base is too messy in the lubesizer.
I also agree that there is a dire lacking of .270 molds that begs to be filled.

Any and all of the Lovern designs. They make the best bullets for paper patching.

Since they originally produced all the Ranch Dog molds it would be great if they brought them back as a stock item. At least make the ones that were popular sellers. Also, at least one mold with a flat nose design for all rifle calibers, that produce bullets with ww alloy at least .002” - .003” over nominal groove diameter. The .35 Rem is as much a cast bullet round as the 30-30 but they have never listed a bullet for it that I can remember in 35 years I have been casting. +1 for 6 cavity rifle molds. With the complaints about the 2 cavity mounting screws, or whatever they are, they may want beef them up or find a way to consistently keep them from being too close to the outside edge. I have some of the bad ones and am troubled by how they got past quality control.

Loverin designs with plenty of diameter. i.e. .226", 260", 289", 313", 326", .360".. I can size down, I find it difficult to enlarge. With all due respect to Beagling etc. I'd rather start out with plenty of girth.

I'd like to see a true truncated cone bullet in the 130grain weight area for 9mm, preferably plain base.

I'm with Grouch. A .270 mold would be a nice addition to their line.

I would like to see a mould that copys CBEs #313-220-GC that would be C315-220-F or C316-220-F with .304 nose.

There seems to be a real lack of .270 molds. I'd like to see a good accurate .270 design, could be tapered loverin type, an Ed Harris type, or an LBT type. Short unsupported nose section, long bearing surface, conventional grease grooves, gas check,.280 diameter. Round or pointed would be my preference, but if people want to hunt with it, flat would be o.k. Grouch

I would like to see a .454” as cast revolver bullet with a hollow base. Flat point of at least 50% and round nose with a full sized driving band ahead of the crimp groove. Crimp groove for 45 Colt in SAA. Hollow base large enough for a WW bullet to expand to cylinder diameter at 10,000 psi. Hollow base plug made from good quality aluminum as well as the mould blocks of better quality, like the 6 cavity ones. Ric

A .22 plain base for mimicking .22RF ballistics with small capacity .22CF's- Hornet, Bee, etc.
Ditto Duane's comments re: .22 Bator sprue plates.
A plain base 180gr. .30 caliber with band diameters tapering a la The old Pope designs would be neat.
