Is the cartridge capable of shooting 175 to 180 gr hunting bullets?  Can cartridges be made from from anything normally available??

Seems a shame  the gun companies  can't make a 357 Mag or 357 Max bolt gun for $300 to 325 like the model 783 Remington in 450 Bush or Mossberg 350 Legend. With the AR guns being the latest rage  it appears we have adapt. afish4570

An excerpt from the description on Starline's website:

"Introduced by Winchester and approved by SAAMI in January of 2019, the .350 Legend is a brand new cartridge with no parent case. This tapered case has a rebated rim allowing it to utilize the standard .223 bolt face found on many common rifles including the AR-15."

Looks like they fattened the case head somewhat for a little more capacity. I can see the appeal of this round for bolt guns and semi-autos, but for single shots I think the .357 maximum makes more sense. However, the factories aren't turning out many of those.

Jeff,

You may or may not be correct. This short article disputes that claim.

David: parent is .223 Rem.  It's an unformed case.

Yes, factory loads are up to 265 gr. As far as the brass goes, there seems to be no parent cartridge. However ammo is cheap and so will brass be.
