I have m. 1903 "stutzen" in 6.5 M/S and even with jacketed bullets of 140 to 160, the velocities are not that impressive....however EFFECT on game is. There is not much out for cast in that cartridge. Now, I get my Moulds and shpplies from Bernie at OLD WEST BULLET MOULDS in Fruita, CO plus great advice from Bernie. Anyway, I just use published jacketed data around the 2000 fps level for same weight cast. However I stick with the faster powders. Since I generally find older data, the IMR powdets seem most prevalent. I do not have chronograph access and shoot open sights plus a Lyman cocking piece folding "peep ghost ring" I am pleased with being able to shoot consistently into 3-inches at 100 or so yds. using some kind of rest or ooen-leg

I use the NOE .270-163 FN gas check in my M/S 6.5x54 with H4895. With 26.0 grs. the velocity is 1850 fps and 28.0 grs. yields 1950 fps.

The Lee 006-6.5Swed 170 gr. RN would probably shoot well in your M-S. The Lyman 266673 or the Saeco 264 might be good choices. I am sure that Al at NOE would have a couple designs that would work also.

darn....I pushed enter before I finished my 6.5 M/S post...so K meant "open leg" sitting position. Anyway, I had good accuracy from 140 gr Lovrin gas checked with 31.6 gr of IMR 4064. and a bkre riding RN of 160 gr gas checked sized .268 (my M/S...like most 19teens and 20's) has that bore dia The 160 gr did best with 29.3 gr IMR 3031. I wonder if anyone else cast bullets 6.5 M/S or, in fact ANY of the "lesser" 6.5's like 6.5x50, 6.5x53R, 6.5x57, 260 Rem or even (God forbid) a 6.5 Creedmore?
